About Dr. Liu
Dr. Steven Liu is a board-certified medical oncologist and the Research Director for Alaska Oncology and Hematology, LLC in Anchorage. He earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, where he was honored with induction into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He went on to complete his internship and residency training at the University of California, followed by an advanced medical oncology fellowship at the University of Washington Medical Center.
Since moving to Alaska in 2005, Dr. Liu has established a reputation as a trusted leader in the local medical community. He previously served as the Chair of the Department of Medicine at Alaska Regional Hospital and maintains a close clinical affiliation with the Providence Cancer Center. In addition to seeing new patients daily, Dr. Liu leads clinical trials as Research Director and has authored numerous medical publications and abstracts with a specialized focus on lymphomas. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
Despite his busy clinical and research schedules, Dr. Liu is dedicated to his community and enjoys traveling and spending quality free time with his family.

Dr Liu has been a great oncologist. He saw me right away when I got my cancer diagnosis. He knows his facts and is up to date on any new procedures or protocols. He is Very by the book. He has helped me understand the medical terms and make sure I get the help I need. My colon cancer was pretty strait forward so we didn’t need to try anything different than what is recommended. I had a few times where I needed to go to the ER and I was able to get ahold of him no matter the time to get his opinion on what to do. I appreciated that. If I ever had suggestions on things I wanted to try he would do the research and learn about them as well. He will be my oncologist for the foreseeable future and I am grateful for that.

This is my third visit to Alaska oncology. I saw Dr. Liu and from the front desk all the way to the back everyone in their office is so kind and caring, considerate and empathetic. I really love the staff here and the experience. I feel like they care about myself and my case and I’m not just another name in their appointment, book. I have a lot going on without a diagnosis as well as a very high white blood count. Dr. Liu took the time to see me a third time and is taking the time to run tests that I had two years ago, that were negative, again and to look into, my medical issues and help me find a diagnosis.
